About two years back I did a review of CleanMyMac 3, which was sufficient for my MacBook Air so far, but now that Apple has come up with the all-new update macOS Catalina, it no longer supports, and I do not want to miss out on the new robust set of feature this update called CleanMyMac X!
CleanMyMac X Review – Ultimate macOS Catalina Cleanup App
The very first impression of the CleanMyMac X is super responsive UI, with a complete overhaul of its interface, which is refreshing, lively and new. It’s a completely next-gen experience for an all in one maintenance app for your all-new macOS Catalina update.
I just updated today to this latest macOS update 10.15, and I wanted to make a fresh start, by removing unused apps, files that are just sitting in my storage unused. I also wanted to get rid of unsupported apps and install new ones quickly, so I can move to my routine tasks.
The default Smart Scan of this cleanup app does a great job, and I mostly use it periodically when the Mac starts behaving slightly sluggish. This feature scans through all things that can bottleneck speeds, unnecessary/junk files, and now this new version also allows you to scan potential threats /security issues in the system. A great way to free up extra GBs, and improve Mac OS performance instantly.
Another great feature I loved in CleanMyMac in the previous version was the quick launch menu that is always available on top, and you can scan through if you are having storage issues, or if system memory is fully used, and it allows solve the issues with one click.
Along with the existing mini dashboards for storage, memory, CPU usage and Trash cleanup, the new version X comes with the three new ones – The security dashboard that tracks real-time malware protection status, Network that updates bandwidth (upload and download) in real-time and Dropbox storage status, if you’re already a using the cloud storage service. All-new edition makes the CleanMyMac X menu much more efficient and reduces the need to open the full app.
The Malware Remover is a full-fledged malware scanner, that detects potential vulnerabilities and alerts you with potential harms.
The Privacy feature lets you selectively get rid of traces and histories from the browser, Wi-Fi networks, Communication/Chat apps (Skype) and recent file history in one click.
The Updater is another nifty feature that alerts and bulk update the pending App updates from the CleanMyMac X UI. This is especially helpful when you’re upgrading to macOS Catalina from older Mac Versions like macOS High Sierra or macOS Mojave.
System Junk is the core feature of CleanMyMac, and it’s very efficient at reducing clutter on a regular basis. It even generates auto alerts after certain days, reminding users to clean up the system with unused apps, files, music and duplicate content. On top of this Core functionality, version X has come up with the Space Lens, a unique storage map feature that lets you visually differentiate the clutter of your important macOS folders like users, Applications and System files.
When any of the folder bubbles is clicked, it takes you deep into the folder that basically acts as a storage microscope. Space Lens lets you you can granularly find and clean the unused storage junk.
The maintenance features continue to include macOS optimization and speed improvement features like running maintenance scripts, free up RAM, purgeable space, Rebuilding Launch Services, Repaid Disk permissions and thinning of Time Machine Backup Snapshots. They feel faster than before and are indeed useful when you find your MacBooks underperform. Optimization feature lets you control login items, hung applications, launch agents and heavy resource consumers at single dashboard.
The Large and Old files, one of my most used features continues to get better with this upgraded version for macOS Catalina, and the Shredder feature continues to completely remove traces of any sensitive file or folder on your system. It’s a quite useful feature if you want to sell your Mac and remove personal data without any digital footprint.
Uninstaller is another great tool, as most of us wonder how to uninstall programs on mac completely, without leaving behind any junk files or leftover installers, CleanMyMac X takes care of all this with one simple click. Just click on the apps you want to remove, and you’re good to go!
If you’re moving to macOS Catalina for its fancy new features and increased speed, the first app you want for your Mac is CleanMyMac X. The app’s user interfaces intuitive and visual delight. It will not only save your device from critical crashes but keeps your Mac’s health and speed at maximum performance.
