Commvault, a recognized global leader in backup, recovery, the cloud and data management across any hybrid environment, unveils the Commvault Command Center™, redefining the modern enterprise software interface and becoming the single customer engagement console across Commvault’s full solutions portfolio. The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to analyze and automate tasks required to manage data operations requires a new approach to interacting with data management software, one that shifts the paradigm to a focus on business and operational outcomes. The announcement was made today in Nashville at Commvault GO 2018, the company’s annual customer conference, and the new interface will be provided to all new and existing customers in December.

The Commvault Command Center takes traditional web-based interfaces to the next level, redefining the new modern user experience (UX) by combining the company’s modern HTML-5 interface with continuous improvement from AI and ML into a completely new experience focused on business and operational outcomes. Additional capabilities like analytics and visualization, role-based operational control and security, interactive and proactive dashboards and orchestration work together with Commvault’s data management software delivering solutions that work for the user while also helping the user work.

Commvault said the new Commvault Command Center combines how users engage with their data management software to gain new insight and control over their managed data, with streamlined onboarding, protection, recovery and orchestrated outcomes for their enterprise data environment. This new solutions management experience provides tracking, analysis, and understanding of key performance indicators monitoring the health and status of the Commvault solution, the customers’ data environment, and the defined user objectives and outcomes.

The Commvault Command Center sets the benchmark for a modern user experience with the ability to define the necessary outcomes for workloads and data within the software and allow AI and ML to take over the tedious and often repetitive tasks required to achieve daily success.  By focusing on objectives and outcomes, Commvault Command Center simplifies the user experience. Analyzing daily jobs, events, and logs for day to day operational success changes to managing based on exception that is driven by operational anomalies highlighted within the real time solution execution. Through highly involved data calculations, the software will adjust as necessary to ensure the desired goals are met and will alert on issues that will require user interaction for resolution. This intelligence shifts the user focus to only the key impact issues that may be adversely affecting operations and outcome delivery. This new level of built in intelligence enables IT organizations to build trust and confidence in their recovery readiness by measuring the success of data management operations against business goals and SLAs in real time.

“It’s time that customers expect more from their data management and enterprise solutions.  Commvault’s solutions shift the focus to business and operational outcomes, combing modern technologies like AI and ML with powerful and reliable data management capabilities, across all environments where data is stored and used, in a simple streamlined experience,” said N. Robert Hammer, Commvault’s Chairman, President and CEO.  “Niche and start-up competitors claim to be easy, but in most cases easy translates to limited, and, in the enterprise, limited is not good enough, and it never has been – especially when that limits customers’ ability to execute. The Commvault Command Center instantly resets the industry benchmark for software engagement, once again showcasing Commvault’s leading technology vision and innovation.”

Commvault said the new Commvault Command Center would introduce a new range of strategic dashboards for recovery, operations, storage, appliances and more, and a broad set of capabilities, spanning areas like autonomous operations, recovery readiness, to cloud migration and more. A comprehensive listing can be found here (insert link).  For multi-tenant environments, role-specific or personalized views are provided allowing specific users to run and monitor their assets within the Commvault environment with extensive visualization of KPIs, utilization, and operational health specific to their workloads.  Commvault also said the solution would simplify the enterprise recovery of applications and data by automating the orchestration of the entire recovery process. New innovative capabilities built upon continuous learning built into the software delivers proactive alerting with interfaces abilities via voice, text, email and through human interface devices like Amazon Alexa.
