CEATEC JAPAN 2017 is Asia’s largest general exhibition relating to cyber-physical systems (CPS) and the Internet of Things (IoT). At the exhibition, Alps Electric will present its latest products and technologies alongside various solutions, incorporating human-machine interface (HMI), sensor, connectivity and IoT technology, for “Society 5.0” as we move toward realization of a super-smart society.

Highlights

  1. HAPTIC™ Trigger Plus

As an application of Alps Electric’s force feedback technology, HAPTIC™ Trigger Plus provides a much more immersive experience when controlling a virtual reality (VR) device. Besides recreating pressure, vibrations and thermal sensations—an existing function of earlier models—HAPTIC™ Trigger Plus has a new feature that senses finger movements using a capacitive sensor, further enhancing reality during operation of VR devices.

  2. Ball Sensor

This ball sensing demonstration, an IoT application, is directed at the much-talked-about sports technology domain. An Alps Electric sensors (speed, angular velocity, and geomagnetic) and wireless communication device embedded inside an official baseball measure the speed and count the rotations of a pitched ball in real time. Analysis of accumulated data could be put to use in improving pitching form and lifting the level of training.
