In a move set to disrupt the visitor management app market, ADDA.io has announced unlimited visitor pre-approvals for its Gatekeeper platform, addressing a major pain point for residents in gated communities across India.
The announcement, made on February 27, 2025, comes as a response to growing frustration among housing society residents who have been restricted by competitor apps that limit the number of visitors that can be pre-approved without additional charges.
Solving a Daily Resident Challenge
For residents of gated communities, managing the steady stream of visitors—from delivery personnel to household help, friends, and family—has become increasingly challenging. According to ADDA.io, the average apartment resident receives approximately seven visitors on weekdays and up to 20 on weekends.
Until now, most gate management apps have imposed caps on the number of visitors residents could pre-approve, forcing them to interrupt their activities to approve unexpected guests in real-time.
“When residents add pre-approved guests, it strengthens the community’s security. By doing so, residents are taking responsibility for their visitors, proactively informing the security team about expected visitors,” explained Mr. Manjunath, Product Manager for ADDA Gatekeeper. “This should be prioritized and not penalized by charging them for it!”
Growing Dissatisfaction with Existing Solutions
The announcement appears timed to capitalize on mounting dissatisfaction with competing visitor management apps that have been criticized for intrusive advertising and paywalled features.
One management committee member from a 2,000+ unit apartment community in Bangalore, identified only as Mr. Nitin, shared his community’s experience: “We have been struggling with a different Gate App, which was chosen by the previous Management Committee as it came for free. Lately residents were getting irritated by too many ads and spam being forced onto them. Residents also complained that without the Association’s knowledge, they were individually asked to pay for essential features.”
ADDA.io, which has positioned itself as a challenger in the visitor management space, has already implemented its Gatekeeper solution in over 1,500 housing societies across more than 40 Indian cities.
San Banerjee, Co-Founder and CEO of ADDA.io, emphasized the company’s broader mission: “We are consistent in our mission to ease urban lifestyle, and the unlimited pre-approved guest feature is just another step forward.”
With the e-commerce boom driving increased deliveries to residential complexes, effective visitor management has become a critical concern for residential welfare associations and estate managers, making ADDA.io’s announcement particularly timely for communities considering their visitor management options.
