6 Differences And Changes With MLB The Show 24’s Diamond Dynasty

The card-collecting Diamond Dynasty mode is one of the most popular ways to enjoy MLB The Show 24.

The idea is that you collect cards, and the players on those cards are then added to your team. There have been several changes introduced in the ‘24 version of the game, and the key differences in this MLB The Show series have been outlined in this article.

No More Card Sets

If you remember the format of Sets and Seasons from MLB The Show 23, that’s no longer used in the ‘24 iteration. This is unsurprising given that gamers generally didn’t enjoy this mode last year and found it demotivating. However, certain concepts from Sets and Season have been carried into other features of the game.

In MLB The Show 24, there’s still the opportunity to get your hands on lots of cards, but you build your team at a slower pace.

Each Season Brings a Free 5-Pack Seasonal Starter Bundle

Another positive change we’ve seen this year is the introduction of free 5-pack Seasonal Starter bundles at the start of each season, with the aim of helping players expand their collections. These bundles are added automatically to players’ inventories and contain season-specific cards.

99 Cards Are Gone

99 cards in MLB The Show 23 were exciting, but the problem was that there were too many of them. Things are being spaced out better in the ‘24 iteration of the game, and 99s aren’t given at launch. In season 1, the highest-rated card you can now obtain is the 91 OVR.

Events Are Now The Same Length

If you didn’t enjoy the varying durations of events in MLB The Show, you’ll be pleased to know that they now all run for the set duration of two weeks. That makes it easier to know exactly how long you have to finish the event, because they all run at the same length.

You Can Only Use Cards in their Season

We mentioned earlier that the Sets system of MLB The Show 23 has now gone, and in this year’s version of the game, there are In-Season cards that get released season by season, meaning that gamers only have access to them within a specific season (aside from those that will be used in a Wild Card slot in later seasons).

Multi-Player & Single-Player Rewards have More Distinction

If you prefer to play in single-player mode or you’re always going to choose multi-player, there’s now some distinction between the two play modes, specifically with rewards gains.

In multi-player modes, players can now obtain rewards with higher ratings faster, which stops them from being bulldozed by players with more experience. Single-player mode allows for a more gradual progression with better and better rewards being in the pipeline as they progress.

Final Word

These are just a handful of changes that have been made for Diamond Dynasty in MLB The Show 24. It’s clear that the changes and updates made have been positive, and while this year’s game iteration still isn’t perfect, it’s still a big upgrade from ‘23.
