Inventor Of Iot, To Be Part Of The 8th Edition Of Nasscom Design And Engineering Summit

Bengaluru, September 26, 2016: The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today announced the 8thedition of its annual Design and Engineering Summit from October 5th to 6th, 2016 at The Leela Palace, Bengaluru. Being hosted in the city of Bengaluru, the theme for the summit this year is ‘Imagineering for the Digital Future’ and will focus on the digital disruptions surrounding today’s world and its implications on Design & Engineering domain, given the need to leverage innovations to ring about a paradigm shift. With a distinguished list of speakers including Mr. Kevin Ashton, Inventor of the Internet of Things & Author of How to Fly a Horse—The Secret History of Creation, Invention & Discovery, Mr. Charles Toups, The Boeing Company, S. N. Subrahmanyan, Larsen & Toubro, Paul Humphries, Flextronics, Silvio Pietro Angori, Pininfarina SpA, Thomas Jakob, Bosch Software Innovations, Timothy Leverton, Tata Motors, and Mamatha Chamarthi, ZF Friedrichshafen / ZF TRW the summit promises to be an event full of stimulating conversations and innovative solutions. The summit brings the Strategists, Practitioners, consumers on to one platform to discuss the strategy for adoption of digital solutions for enhanced design and engineering.

Mr. ?Kevin Ashton, who is credited for coining the term “the Internet of Things” to describe a system where the Internet is connected to the physical world via ubiquitous sensors will talk about the various facets of the IoT and how it is an imperative for the world today. While talking about his impending visit to India, he said, “The Internet of Things has taken the world by storm, and more and more computer systems now have the ability to sense the things around them. India has all the right ingredients to be a major contributor to the Internet of Things revolution, both as a developer and an end user. Because of India’s entrepreneurial attitude, government support and enterprise backing, people and companies here have the opportunity to create solutions that will be globally relevant.  I am really excited to be back in India. It is amazing to see the way the country’s IoT sector is shaping up, and I expect that the enthusiasm that I witnessed first-hand means that India will continue to build a valuable and highly advanced Internet of Things market”

Adding to his thoughts, Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, said, “Demand for something “new” has become the keyword today and this summit has always tried to bring conversations around how to ensure engineering and innovation are in alignment to the requirements of world. Further, Internet of Things has altered traditional designing and the industry is pushing the envelope to ensure that demands are met and new standards are set in this domain.”

India currently houses over 1,030 ER&D companies that provide cutting-edge solutions and partner with global customers for product development and design. Many of the global corporations are also leveraging the ER&D capabilities in India to move closer to emerging markets. Further, as per the NASSCOM 2020 Vision, ER&D revenues from India will amount to USD 37-45 billion by 2020, driven by several factors – technological advances, changes in competitive landscape and consumer preferences.

The summit will showcase how the Engineering R&D sector is gearing up by embracing latest innovations and cutting edge technologies and translating all possible imagination into engineering techniques to match the pace of the growing digital era; highlighting the evolution of Internet of Things and how it has begun driving demand and fostering innovation. With themes such as Designing for Customer Experience, Software defined Manufacturing and Organization Structure for the Digital Future that focus on aligning engineering as a career with the needs of the industry and emphasise on the need for innovative designing to keep up with the growing demands of the global industry. The summit will also focus on the manufacturing and will witness attendees from the sector who are embracing digital solutions.  With a pantheon of industry veterans and innovators having conversations around themes and issues of critical importance to the growth of designing and engineering, the summit offers a unique platform for ER&D professionals from across the globe to find solutions to help their companies evolve with changing requirements.
