Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 Review : Another Smart Android Device !

To repeat the huge success just like seen in the Galaxy S, Samsung has now decided to make their smart phone better and hence they have come up with the Galaxy S Plus. The phone is now available for the purchasing and we can expect the announcement on the official launch any day. Samsung Galaxy S plus I9001 is not a new phone, in fact it is a kind of speed bump of the existing model of Samsung S.

Samsung has poured the device with the capabilities of hummingbird chipset, 1.4 GHz processor, better battery life to compensate for faster speed from CPU and TouchWiz UI v3.0 for better user experience. Let us have a closer look to the device to understand what plus and minus had been done in this upgraded model. Lets move to complete review explained with features of Galaxy S Plus I9001 –

Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001Old Form Factor:

Samsung Galaxy S Plus is almost like a twin brothers, except from different chipset and processor.  This exactly same device is having the same measurements as you might have seen in the Galaxy S. In terms of shape, size and dimension, you will find no difference in both the devices. With 9.9 mm thickness and 119g of weight S plus can be considered as the compact device compared to which exist in the market.

Same Display:

The phone uses the same AMOLED 800X480 pixel display which offers excellent quality in the 4 inches capacitive touch display. The downside here is the old penTile matrix with fewer sub pixels.

Same User Interface:

Just like seen in the Samsung Galaxy S, the same TouchWiz does the job for Samsung Galaxy S Plus. This Android 2.3.3 based phone is not poured with any kind of change in the UI, which one can appreciate. The home screen is equipped with 7 customized themes which is easily manageable. You can easily add, delete and update the widgets which you want to see on the home screen.

Better Processor:

In terms of benchmark and selling point, Galaxy S Plus is only different from its twin brother in term of processing speed. Compared to 1 GHz in the Samsung Galaxy S, S plus is powered by 1.4 GHz processor which offers better performance, fast speed and better multi tasking. However the same old Adreno 205 GUI is being installed in the device, so no enhancement in terms of graphics.

Plain old camera

Plus S is equipped with 5MP main camera which allows the capturing of stills at 2592X1944 pixels, which is nothing new as compared to seen in the Samsung Galaxy S. It lack in the attributes like flash and shutter key. Apart from this, you will find standard features like Geo Tagging, smile and face detection and shooting modes to capture snaps in different lightening conditions. Device is capable of capturing HD videos at 720 p.

Good connectivity

Connectivity capabilities are again similar to that found in Galaxy S; same WiFi, Bluetooth with A2DP support, USB 2.0 and GPRS. However the device has been degraded in terms of memory, instead of 16 GB found in the Galaxy S, S Plus has integrated 8 GB of internal memory which can be extended with the external memory up to 32 GB. Device supports 3.5 mm jack for audio output.

Final words

Galaxy S do not make any sense to people who already have tasted the Samsung cream, however with little tweaks, Samsung has tried to experiment the new trend to come up with the enhance versions of their existing breed. This phone can also be called as the Galaxy S edition IIJ and does not have any major enhancement which can be praised.

Do let us know your views on the twin brothers and also if you are a Galaxy S user, please do share your views on how S plus can be different in the experience.
