Samsung Galaxy Note Review: Is It Really Worth Buying ?

Samsung has definitely found its way to lead the smart phone market & has a big share in increasing overall Android users thanks to its low & Mid budget smartphones. The team is always working on something that adds value to current mobile features and Samsung Galaxy Note is true representation of their excellent innovation.

Galaxy Note is basically is a smart phone that is made for taking notes and its big screen makes it quite a hybrid of ‘Smartphone & Tablet’ category. So here is an in-depth review from me after I got some hands on it.

Display, UI  & Stylus

GAlaxy Note comes with the mighty 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED Touchscreen, that adds so much value to its basic purpose for business users. The Stylus is named as S Pen, is first of its kind pen that communicates with default S Memo software and have a deep integration for using it in many apps. You can sketch, write & pretty much do everything with the S Pen.

Samsung is one of the best Super AMOLED maker, where black colors are very black so other color comes out of the screen bright, vivid & overall experience is ‘buttery’. It is of course an Android powered phone masked with Samsung’s latest TouchWiz UI, which is smooth overall and give remarkable performance.

Samsung Galaxy Note

Physical Appearance

Many of you will think that this is not easily pocketable & not so handy to use then let me tell you that it’s not that hard to carry around. You definitely do not want to crush it within your tight jeans pockets but yes, it is quite good to carry around in your hand.

Galaxy Note has 3.5 mm jack at top, Volume rockers on left, Micro USB Ports, front camera, proximity & ambient light sensors at standard locations. Rectangular button on center peeks out of design and looks well for such high end device.

Processor & Performance

The phone comes with the Dual core 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex-A9- Processor & runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread. I wish it was came with Android Ice Cream Sandwith (Latest version), because this big screen size would have suited it the best. (It might come in future updates)

Huge Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery is good enough to keep this beast powerful for longer times & Talk time on 2G and 3G are decent compared to most high-end smart phone. Galaxy Note also comes with internal 16 GB memory & 32 GB expandable microSD slot which makes it an impressive device to work for business.

All connectivity options like 3G (21 Mbps HSDPA, 5.76 Mbps HSUPA), Wi Fi Direct, AGPS & microUSB make it easier to access web & share data no matter wherever you are

Camera & Multimedia

Another great feature in this hybrid gadget is 8 megapixel powerful camera with an LED flash. I would have loved to see some bigger MP camera because many of Nokia smart phone cameras perform better than Samsung & HTC.  Camera is Galaxy Note captures quite good photos even in low light & features like shot, beauty, panorama, smile shot, touch focus, and image stabilization makes it one of the best camera on high-end devices. Galaxy Note can record 1080p Full HD videos that captures above average videos. Secondary 2 Megapixel camera is a good add-on for video calls & for capturing quick self portraits too. For multimedia Galaxy Note supports MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, DivX, Xvid, WMV, VC-1, HD Video formats & MP3, WAV, eAAC+audio format for wide variety of accessing multimedia.

Galaxy Note: Is it Really Worth It?

Well, for no doubt it is one of the powerful android smartphone right now, but there are better alternatives like HTC Sensation XE in smartphone category, and Tablets like iPad, Galaxy Tab in lesser price module. BUt it depends on what do you want really ?

A Tablet you can take to your office or A Phone that have assets of tablet like big screen. Because in both of this scenario Buying Galaxy Note is a good option. It is finest on its performance but you can wait a little for its price drop.

Let me know what do you think about this Galaxy Note Review & Will you really consider buying a giant phone like Note ?
