Nellore : The Organizing Committee of Nellore 5K Run today announced the launch of the inaugural edition of Nellore 5K Run, scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2015 at A.C. Subba Reddy Stadium. Smt. M. Janaki, Collector, Nellore District and Shri. Anil Kumar, IPS – CEO, Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd have unveiled the official Medal and Race T-shirt of the event.
The Nellore 5K Run is an initiative to promote running as the primary form of fitness. The event is designed and developed to celebrate the spirit of Nellore. The event which is scheduled for October 11, 2015 is expected to see 2,000+ runners from across the Nellore region and the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Timed 5K Run is a first of its kind running event in Nellore with all participants receiving a RFID chip to measure individual time. People from all walks of life are expected to attend the event and promote the cause of fitness and active lifestyle. The Nellore 5K Run also promotes the environment: this year’s theme is Go Green, Nellore.
Top three finishers in different categories will receive cash prizes and each finisher will get a medal and certificate of participation.
Marking the launch, Smt. M. Janaki, Collector, Nellore District said “We are thrilled about Nellore 5K Run. The event creates awareness about healthy lifestyle and running. We encourage all the citizens of Nellore region to register and participate in the 5K Run. We are confident that the event will receive a fantastic response from Nellore.”
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Anil Kumar, IPS – CEO, Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd, said: “The timed-5K run is a first of its kind initiative to promote sports, wellness and healthy lifestyle for the citizens of Nellore and the state of Andhra Pradesh. We are actively encouraging this year’s theme, Go Green, Nellore. We look forward to a great event on October 11, 2015.”
