Spice Mi-310 Hands On Review & Features [Low Cost Android]

Yesterday, I came across Spice Mi-310, an android smartphone that offers loads of features in this category. Coming from low cost cellphone maker brand like Spice Mobiles – this spanking new smartphone is targeted for basic Android users. Here is a quick hands on review about how Spice Mi 310 performs compared to other smartphones.

Physical Appearance

The phone is a complete touch screen phone with eye catching shape, curves and especially rusty copper colour of the phone turns the phone to a good looking stylish touch screen phone. Its trackball with the golden edges are just perfect for copper’s detailing and enhances the looks. It is sleek enough to fit in your pocket and weights like a normal phone (120 gm).

Features of Spice Mi 310

The phone comes with the new Android 2.2 Froyo OS (Operating System) which is a try to keep up with technology. As the company says, “It is 2 to 5 times faster than the Android 2.1” which proves true on using. Better OS directly means better speed, browsing and response from the phone. We don’t consider it the best, but it can’t be considered a poor or novice OS.

Camera:

It comes with a single camera on the back which is auto-focused, 2 Mega Pixel camera.

Battery Consumption:

It consists of a 1200 maAH Li-Ion battery which is quite less for an android phone as it is going to be used for browsing and downloading and a talk-time of approximately 2.5+ hours, which is way to less compared to other low budget phones like Samsung Galaxy Pop, Galaxy 5 & Micromax Andro.

Multimedia:

The music player and FM radio comes with 3.5 mm universal audio jack and the sound quality is fine, neither too blemish, nor too calm.

Video Player supports MP4 format (320X480 px) but doesn’t supports .avi files initially. (Can’t even expect at this budget !)

Others:

It is a 3G enabled phone, actually a HSDPA (as known as 3.5 G) but as it doesn’t have a front camera, so face-to-face video conference isn’t possible.

85 MB  of internal memory which is expandable up to 16 GB is enough to store apps, music, games and all your stuff together.

Spice Mi 310 comes with one year manufacturer’s warranty.

Not So Good About Spice Mi 310

  • Although it is a touch capacitive phone but touch response can’t be considered “smooth”.
  • A 3.2 Mega Pixel Camera is must for an Android phone.
  • Video suffering on Youtube is not of android level.
  • FM radio can only be played with a headphone/earphone.
  • Concerned about battery run-time.

Price in India:

For those who are looking for low cost android phone, this one is priced at Rs. 7300 (Approx.) in India

Our Verdict

If you are a normal Java (J2ME) or symbian user and want to shift to Android world, this phone will work for a while now with such a price point. But if you wish to do some powerful multi tasking on android & use it to its fullest potential then this phone is not good for you.

If you can increase a budget by Rs 1000 extra you can go for  Samsung Galaxy Pop, which have best in class hardware & delightful touchscreen experience with all features that you expect form a mid range device. (Priced at Rs. 8600)
